This beautiful flower, native to Israel, is unique in that its head bends down but its petals rise up. It also grows most commonly in rocks and crevices and seems to be not only beautiful in appearance, but strong and resilient too. This was my inspiration for painting these flowers on parchment, that just like these strong flowers can still bloom in the face of adversity, and even when their heads are bowed down, their petals still rise, so to the Jewish people, native to the Land of Israel can prosper and flourish in their Land, despite their many challenges and enemies, as we wait for the full redemption that should come speedily in our days.
