You can watch this piece being created togther with a beautiful reindition of Vehi Sheamda by my husband here! When G-d split the sea for the Jewish people as they were leaving Egypt, and saved them from their tormentors who were chasing them, and closed the sea in on them so every last one was eliminated, and did countless of miracles, so that the land they were walking on was firm and dry and there was sweet water and fresh fruit as they walked by, this was not a one time event, this was an event for eternity.  Even in the worst scenarios there is always hope. The power to break through our limitations, to reveal the Divine, to see miracles and wonders in our life, to never give up, all of this and more is incorporated in this one single but powerful piece.  Bring this into your home and infuse it with strength, love and miracles.

Chassidic concepts included in this piece;

As human beings we inhabit two worlds; the world of dry land which is our physical and tangible world, and the world of the sea, the  mystical cosmic unseen world.

Inside our human psyche and souls we also have these two worlds and the contrast between the two is the cause of much of our inner conflict and confusion.

When G-d split the sea all the hidden secrets which usually lie deep beneath our consciousness were revealed.

Even when the sea reverted back, the powerful potential to access the world of the sea with its hidden cosmic secrets was now accessible to humankind in a way it never was before.

Based on an address by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Passover 1958 (Likkutei Sichot, vol. III, pp. 1016e-1016f)

The painting brings to life the inner most light of the soul rising from the depths, illuminating the parchment of the world (the painted background) elevating the very mundane until it becomes the klaf of a Sefer Torah.

The colours are the colours that signify our search for a relationship with G-d, blue is the colour of the sea and represents our awe of G-d's greatness, crimson is the colour of passion, and describes the way we thirst for G-d, purple is the combination of the two and   signifies our humility we experience when we see who we really are and how far we stand, and white, like pure water is the warm and loving sense of G-d's loving kindness for us and ours for Him.

Based on a discourse by R. Yosef Yitzhak Schneersohn, 5708, pp. 141-145

May we be blessed to reveal the hidden aspects of our souls and serve G-d with even more love, awe and reverence until the coming of Mashiach speedily in our days!
